  Hope you made it to the Alamo Premiere (and had a chance to say hello). It was a bit of a whirlwind so I don’t recall exactly who I spoke to. If you didn’t make it to the first premiere, there’s another one Feb 11th with 3 all new episodes!

Hi Dr. Greg,
I just wanted to applaud you for sharing the amazing Austin craft beer community with the world. I am also a resident of Austin and a huge fan of our local been scene. In fact, I’ve spent the last few weekends at Banger’s on Rainey Street. I just wanted to say if you are ever looking for some help with this project, I would love to help out. I’m not looking for a job, I just share your passion for beer and would love to give a hand wherever I could. I have friends that working in the Austin food/ food PF community, and I actually worked with Jester King Brewery a bit on getting the Texas law preventing the sale of beer at breweries amended.   That is a great idea… and we hadn’t really thought of that! We’ll see about getting some type of newsletter set up, but it may take a bit of time as we’ve got a lot on the go right now.

  Merci! I do have a plan to head over to Europe at some point to showcase some of the amazing breweries there, though I’m not yet sure when that would be as we’ve still got a lot of work immediately ahead of us here in North America.

I’ve been a huge fan of yours ever since KoToR, following everything BioWare did. I was bummed to hear when you retired, but am thrilled for what you are doing now!

I moved to Austin about three years ago and immediately fell in love with craft beer. The number of breweries we have sprouting up here is astounding. I’m going back to the 512 Brewery this weekend for my second tour, I love it so much!

I think your show is an awesome idea – it will give craft brewers a voice and help educate people about the industry and the process. I hope to catch your premiere at the Alamo tonight.

I was a big fan of what you accomplished with BioWare, and while I was sad to see you leave, I’m excited to see this new endeavor. I’ve been a homebrewer for a few years now, and I too share the obsession for craft beer…

If you haven’t already done so, please consider coming out to CT and visiting the burgeoning brewing scene here – it’s pretty amazing to see how many good breweries have come online, and continue to come online, in just the past year or two in the state!

Watched the U-tube clip. Who was the sound track by? Sounded like Hawkwind.

Back to beer- which IPA is the best? I’ve been on a 5 year quest to find this out. The problem they all tase good (almost)

  I love the hopping frog’s Hoppin’ To Heaven IPA, or for a slightly different take on it try Surly Furious.

  The main theme for Austin is called “Entrance Song” by a local group called The Black Angels. You’re right in noting they’ve got a psychedelic edge to them.
  
  Hmmm – best IPA – that depends a lot on what style of IPA you like. Do you prefer the over-the-top West Coast hops explosion or a more subtle, resinous East Coast or spicy/earthy classic English IPA.
  
  I’m not sure there’s one “best” as they are so many that are so good!

The “best” IPA is quite a subjective concept – I agree that they almost all taste good (if actually made properly) – and there’s a breadth of sub-styles – west coast, east coast, English, etc. My sustained favourites (being an avowed hophead myself), are Red Racer IPA, and Lagunitas, well, anything, both for a good balance of intense flavour and general availability.

This lifelong gamer is wishing you much luck! Will look forward to when you visit Seattle (I know I’m making an assumption on that one but with our beer scene here that’s definitely only a matter of time). I’ve been involved in the craft beer scene here for over ten years and would be happy to suggest some spots to hit if you’d like! Plus I work in TV production and would be happy to lend a hand with your shoot!
